Boris Stepanov first appeared as the Bach's Evangelist on March 21, 2008, when the Minsk Chamber Soloists ensemble conducted by Dmitry Zubov performed Matthäus-Passion at the Belarusian State Philharmonic (the singer also performed tenor arias at that time, a recording of Geduld has been preserved). Later on, the Evangelist's part and solo arias from Bach's Matthäus-Passion, Johannes-Passion, and Weihnachtsoratorium became an important part of the singer's repertoire. He performed them with Vladimir Begletsov, Teodor Currentzis, Leo Kremer, Andrei Petrenko, Alexander Rudin, Anatoly Rybalko, Sergey Stadler, Arkady Steinlucht, Dmitry Yurovsky. In 2010, Boris took part in the first authentic performances of Johannes-Passion in St. Petersburg.
